ES & MES Futures Trading – Key Levels & Technical Tips Thursday

Preparing ES Emini & MES Micros Traders
For Our Emini and Micros Futures Trading Room

In today’s MicrosTrader briefing, traders are urged to remain vigilant with a volatile news day headlined by economic indicators and remarks from Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell. Emphasis was placed on avoiding multitasking during trades and journaling key mistakes for growth. The presenter highlighted key technical levels and market behavior patterns that indicate buyer accumulation may still be necessary. While not trading today, they plan to return live if conditions align later in the session. RESOURCES:

Morning Briefing Introduction

Good morning, everyone! Welcome to the AM Briefing brought to you by MicrosTrader.com, where together, we trade better. We are an ESMES futures trading room—check us out if you're interested in joining a community of committed traders.

Weekly Scripture

“Tear your hearts, not just your clothes, and return to the Lord your God. For He is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, rich in faithful love, and He relents from sending disaster.” – Joel 2:13

Tip of the Day

Trade during your best trading hours—when you can focus 100% on trading. Multitasking is not allowed. Trust me on this—if you're in my group, you already know why.

Yesterday, I made the mistake of trading while trying to program and entered a trade I normally wouldn’t have taken. Lesson learned.

Today's Market Drivers

Today’s market is full of potential drivers: PPI, retail sales, unemployment numbers, and Jerome Powell speaking—all on the day before options expiration (OPEX) Friday. Today is an orange-to-red flag day due to this dense news stack.

Most of this data releases before the market opens. Consider stepping back and revisiting the chart 30 minutes post-open to reassess the landscape. Be especially cautious—Thursday before OPEX is often erratic.

Trading Mistakes & Journal Tags

Yesterday’s trading errors were clear:

  • Trading outside my optimal window
  • Prediction trading
  • Trading while multitasking

A new table will now track these errors over time. For instance, if "trading outside my window" occurred 50 times all-time, 5 times in the last 30 days, and once this week, that pattern tells a developmental story. This is the purpose of journaling—eliminating recurring mistakes.

Make sure to tag special days like “OPEX: Day Before” to help contextualize behavior. I won’t be trading this morning as I have a fasting blood test and a doctor’s appointment.

Recognizing Market Control

When the bulls are in control, shorts tend to double and triple tap before moving. The inverse happens when bears dominate. Trading with the prevailing control is key.

Yesterday, I anticipated a pullback due to price hovering near the upper boundary of a high time frame range. I entered short—right at the worst possible moment—while multitasking, again failing to recognize we were bouncing off a “single prints” level. I placed my stop just above a strong resistance zone, and got stopped out. Live and learn.

Chart Observations

I believe the market needs to pull back further to accumulate buyers capable of breaking through the high time frame resistance. I'm targeting the 2025 opening price area as a magnet, but it likely won’t reach it without a stronger dip.

Add a trendline from yesterday’s high and monitor closely. It’s becoming a valid structure. If the price breaks a key resistance and backtests it, that could be a high-probability long setup—though I would prefer a deeper retracement first.

Final Thoughts

Avoid prediction trading. Trade the levels as they present themselves. Most importantly, operate during your top-performance windows—your A+ game is a requirement, not a suggestion.

I'll likely miss today's trading but may go live this afternoon if the setup looks good. Until then, stay green, friends.
