Good Morning Traders – April 9th Briefing

Good morning, everybody! Happy Wednesday, April 9th—the day before CPI and the day after a near-historic market reversal. Let’s dive in.

Tip of the Day – Just Follow the System

Today's tip is a two-parter: Just follow the system. You need to have a reliable trading system first and foremost, but once you have it, just follow it. Also, know where you are at—that’s critical.

One of the most valuable things I offer my group is not only calling out and mapping trades but helping identify where we are in the market structure. Great bulls know where the bears are, and great bears know where the bulls are. That concept played a huge role in yesterday’s session.

News Drivers and Market Events

  • FOMC Minutes are scheduled for release this afternoon.
  • Trump is signing executive orders today—scheduled during the silver bullet hour. While it is closed to the press, keep an eye out for potential market reaction.
  • The speaker is taking the afternoon off, but tomorrow is a double stream day on Zoom and YouTube.

AM Briefing Origins and Trade Mapping

The AM Briefing was born out of necessity. Initially conducted live on Zoom, many traders would join late and miss valuable insights. This led to earlier recordings and uploading to YouTube so everyone could access it as part of their pre-flight checklist.

These briefings cover:

  • What happened yesterday
  • Where we are today
  • What’s likely to happen
  • Possible trade path scenarios

Tuesday Recap – High-Level Execution

Yesterday, around 9:51 AM, a key range was identified. The setup played out with a move to the top, followed by a drop, triggering a short entry.

Shoutout to Caleb, a top runner in the group! He became the fourth trader to hit a 100+ point runner, closing one contract at 100 points and the other at 200 points. Well done, Caleb!

Live Trade Pathing and Real-Time Analysis

Two long entries were available off a blue candle. The speaker opted for a more aggressive entry, which missed, but others succeeded. Once failure points were identified, a shift to shorting was clear.

High-timeframe trend lines require multiple attempts to break. The mapped long setup was noted, but priority remained with short trades as the market moved lower.

Overnight Action and Market Caution

Since Sunday, a bottom-range setup has been on watch. Overnight action teased that setup, but volatility remains high.

London session opened with a 1.3-minute candle that moved 111 points in two candles. These are historic ranges. Be cautious—this is "edge-of-the-cliff" territory.
