Price action set up a couple of long opportunities this morning. If you took the 85 long or the 81 long as outlined and stayed with it, you are still in the trade. Developing the ability to hold runners... and even add to winning positions... is a vital skill every trader must master.
KEY IDEA:
If you are trading in a cash account, play perfect chess with your runner. There is nothing to do except trail your stop and look for opportunities to add to your winning trade. This could turn into a multi-day swing trade—no one knows. The key is to keep playing perfect chess without bias.
I remind you.. end of month, end of summer, before a long holiday weekend.

Today's entry and price action clearly demonstrates, once again, the NEED for futures traders to hold runner(s) when the entry is clearly "with the trend" and there is a monster magnet just ahead... especially when you have NQ heading the same direction.
KEY IDEA:
Keeping a "Risk Free" runner while looking to add contracts to a winning trade is powerful... and a core trading principle in our group.
Our mapped-out path had us holding a runner toward the ATH at 6508.75 (a great take profit at 25 points!), with an upside target zone of 6514–6520 (30+ points!).
TAKING PROFIT: I often take profit just before the level. There is no need to be greedy. Exiting just before the level has the added benefit, especially for prop traders, of keeping the trailing drawdown as small as possible. And remember, a great run can often reset your entire drawdown.
HOW FAR WILL PRICE GO? We never know how far price will go... I don't know, you don't know, even the late great Jesse Livermore didn't know... that’s why every trader aims to play perfect chess with their runner and let the market 'do its thing'. Frequently, the best approach is to "leave the house" to avoid the temptation to micromanage the runner.
"Trade the bounce & hold a runner". That is what we do at Micros Trader. And when possible, we ADD to our winning trades (and never add to losers... ever!)
ARRIVAL: It took price 4.5 hours to reach the goal destination. It is MUCH easier for ES to go up up and away on low-volume weeks. Rarely is it worth SHORTING on weeks like this. YMMV.
