Be Courageous | Daily Devotional For Traders
"Be Courageous"
Scripture
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
- Joshua 1:9
Reflection
Every futures trader knows the paralyzing grip of fear... staring at a chart as price approaches your stop loss, hesitating to enter a perfect setup because the last three trades failed, or sitting frozen while FOMO screams at you to chase a breakout.
God's command to Joshua wasn't a suggestion; it was a direct order to be courageous despite overwhelming odds.
Notice God doesn't promise the absence of danger or uncertainty; He promises His presence through it.
In trading, courage isn't recklessness—it's the disciplined strength to execute your trading plan when fear whispers "stay out" and greed shouts "go all in."
It's taking calculated risk with proper position sizing even after a drawdown.
It's cutting losses quickly without shame.
It's honoring your rules when every emotion screams otherwise.
The difference between a fearful trader and a courageous one isn't the absence of anxiety; it's the willingness to act correctly despite it.
When you've done your analysis, when your setup aligns with your strategy, when your risk is defined... God doesn't call you to be paralyzed by "what ifs." He calls you to be strong, execute with discipline, and trust that He's sovereign over every tick.
Prayer
Lord, replace my fear with Your courage. When I face the uncertainty of the markets, remind me that You are with me in every trade, every drawdown, and every decision.
Give me the strength to follow my rules with discipline and trust You with the outcomes I cannot control. Amen.
Amen.
Practical Application
This week, before each trading session, write "Be strong and courageous" at the top of your trading journal. When fear tempts you to skip a valid setup or overtrade from anxiety, read it aloud, take three deep breaths, and ask yourself: "Am I following my plan or following my fear?" Execute accordingly.
