The Profit in Patience: Waiting for Your Setup

"Title"

Scripture

"The LORD is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him." - Lamentations 3:25

Reflection

Daily Devotional for Futures Traders

In the chaos of futures markets, waiting feels like losing.

Every tick you're not in the market seems like missed opportunity. Red and green candles flash across your screen, and FOMO screams that you need to act now

But Jeremiah, writing from the ruins of Jerusalem, discovered something profound: God rewards those who wait. This isn't about passive inactivity—it's about active, disciplined seeking.

As a trader, you're constantly seeking the right setup, the proper risk-reward, the ideal market conditions.

The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, and your trading account will be good to you when you wait for your setup

The most expensive trades you'll ever make are the ones you force out of impatience.

When you feel the urge to jump into a marginal setup, remember: waiting isn't costing you money; it's saving you from unnecessary losses. The market will always provide another opportunity. Your job isn't to trade every move—it's to wait for the moves that align with your strategy. Trust that goodness comes to those who seek with patience.

Prayer

Lord, give me the strength to wait for Your timing and the setups You place before me. Help me resist the pull of FOMO and trust that You are good to those who patiently seek what is right. Amen.

Amen.

Practical Application

  1. Set a rule this week that you must wait a certain number of minutes after identifying a potential setup before entering. Use that time to pray, review your checklist, and confirm the trade meets all your criteria.
