Range Rules Rule: How to Trade a Range-Bound ES Futures Market

Longs at the bottom. Shorts at the top. Never the reverse. The complete playbook for the market condition the ES lives in most of the time.

Range rules govern how you trade a range-bound market: look for longs only at the bottom of an established range and shorts only at the top… never the reverse. You skip the choppy middle, peel contracts as price crosses the range, and hold a runner in case an edge finally breaks. In ES E-mini futures, this one framework covers most trading days of the year.

Longs at the Bottom, Shorts at the Top… Never the Reverse

The core rule fits in one sentence. When price trades near the bottom of an established range, hunt longs. When it trades near the top, hunt shorts. Flip that around and you're buying the ceiling and selling the floor… the exact trade location that bleeds accounts.

George marks his ranges in color: green zone at the bottom for longs, red zone at the top for shorts. Respect the colors until price breaks out. And he makes a bold claim about how far this single habit carries you:
