The Best Trade Before a Level 10 Day Is No Trade

Posted: Thursday August 06, 2026

☀️ AM BRIEFING

Today is Thursday… the day before a Level 10 trading day. That means Thursday and Friday get traded with caution, and this ES futures morning briefing is built around one idea. The best trade in front of a dangerous tape is often no trade at all. George is still holding the Monday long as a lotto runner, the Battle Plans this week have yielded squat zero on purpose, and every fresh entry here would scare him. Moderate your expectations. Contain the bad day. Protect the gains you already banked and let the low-probability conditions pass.

LEVEL 10 CONDITIONS: CONTAIN THE BAD DAY

Thursday sits right in front of a Level 10 trading day, so Thursday and Friday both get traded with caution. Risk rules number one. Your success is not decided by how big your good days get… it is decided by how contained your bad days stay.

This is the discipline that separates traders who last from traders who blow up. When the calendar tells you conditions are heavy, you shrink the target and guard the downside first.

Trader Lesson 1

Success is not measured by how good your best day is. It is measured by how CONTAINED your worst day is. Risk rules number one.

WHY THE BATTLE PLANS YIELDED SQUAT ZERO

The whole week the Battle Plans have produced nothing. Zero. That is not a failure… it is the plan working exactly as designed. George does not map Draw Levels that MIGHT get you into a trade. He maps high-probability trades. When price is nowhere near a high-probability location, the map correctly gives you nothing to do.

A Battle Plan that hands you zero setups on a low-probability day just kept you out of a coin flip. That is a win you never see on a P&L, but it protects the account for the day the real setup arrives.

A plan that only fires on high-probability trades will go quiet on purpose. Silence from the Battle Plan is a signal, not a defect.

Trader Lesson 2

Map high-probability trades, never hopeful ones. A Battle Plan that yields zero on a bad day did its job… it kept you out of a coin flip.

LEANING INTO NO TRADES

Yesterday was trash price action. Dangerous. 8-point candles ripping back and forth through the opening that turned into 15-point candles back and forth. In conditions like that most of your trades come out break-even or worse. George said it live on Zoom and YouTube. This is dangerous price action.

So he leaned into no trades. His words… every entry here would scare me. When every single entry frightens you, that fear is information. You Stand Down. Saying no is a real trade decision, and on a squirrelly tape it is often the highest-probability decision on the board.

Trader Lesson 3

If every entry in front of you would scare you, that fear is data. Stand Down. Declining dangerous price action IS a trade decision.

THE RUNNERS THAT PAID: PROTECT WHAT YOU BANKED

The entire week has been about holding runners from last week. The Monday long was taken live on Zoom and YouTube, and George is STILL on a lotto runner from it. This was the 50-pointer that held a lotto runner. One member caught her first 100-point runner off that Monday move, and the thing ran to a high of 245 points before the beautiful fall-through on Tuesday and Wednesday. One of the easiest runners you could have.

Now overnight is sitting in the lower distribution and NQ is exploring below. It feels like Patrick Swayze hanging out of the airplane, ready to dive. So George brought his stop UP to lock in the gain rather than give it back. That is runner management in one move. When structure looks ready to break against a big open profit, you protect what you banked instead of hoping for more.

  • Monday long: Taken live, still riding as a lotto runner.
  • The 245-point high: A member's first 100-point runner rode the same move.
  • Stop management: Overnight in the lower distribution with NQ below… stop raised to capture the gain.

Trader Lesson 4

When structure looks ready to break against a big open profit, bring your stop up and bank it. A protected runner beats a hopeful one.

WHAT TO WATCH TODAY, AND WHAT TO EXPECT

Moderate your expectations. George was blunt. We may not get another high-probability setup until next week, and a lot of people like to hear that because it is honest. If we get a nice pullback he is watching for a move down, so the level to watch is the halfback of the overnight distribution. Acceptance below that halfback opens the door to lower.

There are 9 or 10 Battle Plan mappings today. Read the mappings and the notes attached to each one before the open. On a slow, low-probability tape, that homework and the discipline behind it is the real work. Build the trader you want to be while the market is not paying.

Trader Lesson 5

Moderate your expectations into heavy conditions. Watch the overnight halfback, read every Battle Plan note, and let the low-probability tape pass.

"Any trade here is low probability… no thank you, no thank you, no thank you."

❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

COMMON QUESTIONS FOR ES FUTURES TRADERS

What is a Level 10 trading day?

A: It is George's caution rating for the calendar. When a Level 10 day is on deck, the sessions around it get traded with extra care… smaller expectations, tighter risk, fewer entries. Thursday and Friday here both fall under that caution because a Level 10 day is directly ahead.

Why did the Battle Plans yield zero trades this week?

A: Because price was nowhere near a high-probability location. The Battle Plan only maps high-probability trades, not levels that might loosely get you in. When the tape is low-probability, the plan correctly gives you nothing, which keeps you out of coin-flip entries. Silence from the plan is a signal, not a failure.

What does it mean to Stand Down in trading?

A: Standing Down means deliberately choosing not to trade. On dangerous price action, declining an entry protects your capital and your mindset. If every possible entry scares you, that fear is telling you the location is wrong… so you wait for the market to come to a high-probability spot.

How do you manage a runner in ES futures?

A: A runner is a portion of your position you let ride for an extended move after banking the core. You manage it with your stop. When structure starts to look like it will break against your open profit, you bring the stop up to capture the gain rather than hope for more. This week's Monday long is being ridden as a lotto runner with the stop raised as NQ probed lower.

What is a lotto runner?

A: A lotto runner is a small, speculative piece held for a low-probability but large extended move. The risk is already banked from the core trade, so the runner is a lottery ticket riding on house money. The Monday long produced runners that reached a 245-point high on this move.

What is the halfback level and why watch it?

A: The halfback is the midpoint of a prior range or distribution. Today the level to watch is the halfback of the overnight distribution. Acceptance below that halfback, meaning price trades and holds under it, opens the door to a move lower. It acts as a decision line between holding up and rolling over.

Why hold a runner when the Battle Plans are producing zero new trades?

A: Because the runner is already a mapped, paid position from a prior high-probability entry. The lack of new setups does not touch a trade that is already working. You separate old, protected profit from the search for new risk… you keep the runner on a managed stop and you do not force fresh entries into a dangerous tape.

How should a beginner handle a low-probability, choppy session?

A: Moderate your expectations and do less. When you see 8 to 15-point candles chopping back and forth through the open, most trades come out break-even or worse. Read your Battle Plan mappings and the notes, protect any open gains, and use the slow tape to work on your process rather than manufacturing trades.

Where can I trade this plan live with MicrosTrader?

A: The live ES trading room runs on Zoom and YouTube, starting 15 minutes before the market. Zoom passes were retired… access now comes through the YouTube membership by hitting the join button, so you can watch the room before deciding on full membership.
