Don't Predict the Market: Trade What's Happening, Not What You Want

The addiction to prediction destroys traders… the best ones never predict at all. They trade the chart in front of them.

From the free MicrosTrader Trading Library… 140 lessons mined from 1,042 live ES and MES futures sessions taught since 2018.

Trade what's happening, not what you want to happen. That is the whole lesson. You do not enter an ES E-mini futures trade because you have a hunch, a feeling, or a forecast. You enter because price is actually doing it, at a level you mapped, with evidence in front of you. Prediction is the peril that destroys unseasoned traders. The chart owes you nothing… so trade the chart and drop the wish.

This page gathers everything George teaches about killing the prediction habit across hundreds of hours of live ES and MES micro futures sessions… why prediction feels so seductive, why it wrecks accounts, and the simple discipline that replaces it. Follow price. Read the chart. Trade the levels as they develop. Everything else is a guess.

“"That's why you got to trade what's happening, not what you want to happen."”

The Addiction to Prediction

Start with the hard truth. Predicting where the market goes next feels like the whole job. It is the exact opposite. George frames prediction as a peril, an addiction that quietly ruins traders who never see it coming. Why? Because the future price of the ES futures market is genuinely unknowable, and pretending otherwise puts you on the wrong side of your own money.

Here is the part traders miss. The moment you make a prediction, you get married to it. You stop reading the chart and start defending your ego. You ignore the candles that contradict you. You hold losers far too long, hoping to be right instead of profitable.

“"But here's the peril that destroys unseasoned traders. The addiction to prediction… the desperate need to know, to predict, to claim certainty about the inherently uncertain future."”
