Trend Line Trading Rules for ES Futures Day Traders

How George draws them, why he never enters on them, and the break-and-backtest that actually pays.

From the free MicrosTrader Trading Library… 140 lessons mined from 1,042 live ES and MES futures sessions taught since 2018.

A trend line is a diagonal level. You draw it through a beginning point, an anchor, and the touches price leaves behind. It becomes real on the third touch. Until then it's a guess. George treats a valid trend line the same way he treats horizontal support and resistance on ES E-mini futures… a landmark that tells him where price is likely to react. The line itself never says buy or sell.

This page gathers George's full trend line doctrine from hundreds of hours of live ES and MES micro futures sessions… how to draw one that works, why you don't trade off the line itself, the exact rules against longing or shorting right at it, and the break-and-backtest that shows up over and over.

“"You have your anchor point, you have your first touch point, and the third one to me makes it a real trend line."”

Draw Only Multi-Touch Trend Lines

A line with one touch is a wish. A line with three is structure. George anchors every trend line to real swing points and waits for confirmation before he trusts it. A beginning point, an anchor point, and the touches that follow… "I've got a beginning point, I've got an anchor point, I've got a touch, I've got a touch" (Feb 1, 2025). The third tap seals it.

Why the fuss over touches? Because multi-touch trend lines work with uncanny reliability. George says it plainly across the tape, and the confirmation compounds with every pullback that respects the line… "we touched it once, we touched it again, to me it's confirmation" (June 22, 2026).

“"I don't know if it's valuable to me to have this setting there because it's not having multi-touch points. I like when they have multi-touch points. To me, it makes it a real trend line."”
