Why the ES Is a Long-Based Instrument: Pullback Sizes & the Long Bias

The statistical case for leaning long… why George maps ES futures 90% to the buy side and lets the shorts pick him off.

From the free MicrosTrader Trading Library… 140 lessons mined from 1,042 live ES and MES futures sessions taught since 2018.

The ES is a long-based instrument. Pull up a weekly or monthly chart of the ES E-mini futures and the story tells itself… price grinds north over time. That single fact drives everything on this page. George maps his ES futures roughly 90% long because the odds, the money flow, and his own trade record all lean the same direction.

This page gathers what George teaches about the long bias across hundreds of hours of live ES and MES micro futures sessions… why the market keeps rising, how far a healthy pullback travels, and why nearly every 100-point winner he books comes from the long side.

“"It's going to explode to the north because that's what ES does. It's a Northerly moving instrument. Go look at your weekly monthly chart and tell me it's not."”

ES futures Battle Plan chart from George’s published record

From George’s published record: Micros Trade Plan #334 — a 60-point move, mapped in advance.

The ES Is a Northerly Instrument

Start with the big picture. Zoom out to the weekly and monthly charts and the trend points one way… up. That's the whole foundation of the long bias. George names it plainly, over and over across sessions: the ES loves to travel north, so the default lean out of chop is to the upside.

So the system is built around it. George trades ES futures about 90% long by design and still maps out the shorts he wants. The lean comes straight off the higher timeframe.

“"It would be up there at the top of the range… expecting price to fill that out and then finally break out to the north. Why? Because ES is a Northerly instrument. That's why it loves to go to the top of the range."”
