MES MICROS TRADE PLAN

Zero Battle Plans And The Discipline To Stand Down

Posted: Friday September 04, 2026

☀️ AM BRIEFING

Today gave us the rarest plan of all… nothing. Zero Battle Plans. It is non-farm payroll Friday, the Friday before a three-day weekend, and ES has already ripped 140-plus points into all-time high territory. Three reasons to sit on your hands, stacked on the same day. This ES futures morning briefing is a week wrap and a lesson in reading trade location, holding a runner, and knowing when the correct move is Stand Down. When the move already happened and the day is loaded with warnings, no trade is the trade.

WHY TODAY IS A ZERO BATTLE PLAN DAY

Zero Battle Plans. Not one. And there are three reasons stacked on top of each other. Non-farm payroll Friday. The Friday before a three-day weekend, which is rarely worth trading. And a 140-plus point rally that has already run right into the trend line.

Two questions settled it. Can I map shorts here? No sir. You do not counter this move. Do you want to go long up here, less than 80 points from the all-time high, less than 1% away? Heck no. That is not a trade location you chase. Every Battle Plan mapping this week was designed to arrive right here. We have arrived. The week is over.

Trader Lesson 1

Some days the trade is no trade. When the move already happened and the day is stacked with warnings, zero Battle Plans is the correct plan. Stand Down.

HOLD THE RUNNER… 30 BECAME 70 BECAME 140

Wednesday was the teaching trade of the week. We went live about an hour early because price was down at Battle Plan 5, dropping right into the edge of the drop zone. We were looking for price to dig under the expected range and slingshot out. That is exactly what we got… the slingshot trade. Fair value gapped right out of there.

The entry made an easy 30 pointer to target. Now you have a choice. Take profit and walk, that is an option. Or deleverage your MES contracts, lock the win, and hold a single runner. You are already in a winning trade with no reason to look for a short. So you hold.

Put your stop behind the apex of Battle Plan 3, exactly where the plan recommended. Survive the double tap. That 30 pointer becomes a 70 pointer at the top of the following RTH session. Hold to the next day and it becomes a 140 pointer. For doing nothing.

You go from a 30 pointer to a 70 pointer to a 140 pointer for doing jack nothing. That is the power of a single runner behind the right stop.

Trader Lesson 2

Deleverage to bank your 30 points, then hold one runner with your stop tucked behind the apex of Battle Plan 3. Doing nothing is the highest-paying skill you have.

THURSDAY… THE DAY THAT HIT

Thursday was the best day of the week. Battle Plan 3 offered a beautiful entry as we dropped into the drop zone. This is the riskier location, so your stop has to sit under the apex. The call was simple… if the bulls are real, this might be the only pullback. Price took a little heat, then ran to target for the 30 pointer. Survive the double tap and it becomes a very different trade.

Battle Plan 2 was the star. Multiple traders were long here. You hold your initial contracts, almost gotcha, and boom… a 50 pointer, 60 if you held beyond. A beautiful entry in a beautiful location, keeping you on the right side of price action.

Battle Plan 1 was a reclaim long off the Bull Bear Line. No real entry there, so no points awarded. That is honest scoring. Were we looking for the right trade in the right location? Yes. Were we mapping shorts? No. We stayed with the bulls the whole way.

THE WEEKLY SCORECARD

If you could have taken every single trade, which is not possible, the week offered 389 points. Nobody catches them all… that is not the point. The point is where the points lived and how evenly they spread.

  • Biggest winner: 100-plus points, no doubt about it.
  • Best day: Thursday, with a nice curve building through the week.
  • Session distribution: Asia around 130 points, London around 140, RTH around 120. Very even.
  • Best point days: Tuesday and Thursday.
  • This week vs last week: Battle Plan booked 314 this week against 100 last week.

Here is the why behind the three ways we make money. The Battle Plan, our pre-planned entries. Zoom, our live price action trading. And Core Strategy, our advanced scalping system. This week Zoom was small, and its value was keeping you safe by not shorting the rally. Last week Core Strategy was a monster. Net difference this week worked out to a positive 16 points. Different engines carry the load on different weeks.

Trader Lesson 3

Three engines cover you… Battle Plan, live Zoom price action, and Core Strategy scalping. When one runs quiet, another carries the week. That is how you stay profitable across changing conditions.

YOUR 30-MINUTE PREP ROUTINE

Your cranium requires the routine. Figure out when you work best, then build the prep in. For some it is the night before. For others it is the morning. The math is the same either way and it is about 30 minutes total.

  • Battle Plan: listen through, about 5 minutes.
  • AM Briefing: 7 to 10 minutes.
  • Updating your levels: 10 minutes max.

Never trade without a thorough review and without knowing your levels are yours. Thirty minutes is the price of showing up prepared.

THE WEEK AHEAD… GET IT OUT OF THE WAY

Next week is one to survive, not to force. Monday is a holiday, so take your holiday. A great weekend to not look at the chart at all, unless you are a new member trying to earn your badges. Charts will be judged this weekend if you want to roll yours out.

  • Monday: closed. Take the day.
  • Tuesday: the day after a long weekend is usually rough, and it opens rollover week.
  • Friday: CPI lands, another reason for caution.
  • The following Monday: we trade the new contract after rollover.

We will be live 15 minutes before the open today. Come watch price action for the love of price action, and maybe something beautiful develops. If it does, we trade it together. If not, it is a one and done day at most.

"The week is over. There's nothing to do here. When the move already happened, the trade is no trade."

❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

COMMON QUESTIONS FOR ES FUTURES TRADERS

Why were there zero Battle Plans in today's ES futures morning briefing?

A: Three warnings stacked on the same day. It is non-farm payroll Friday, the Friday before a three-day weekend, and ES already ran 140-plus points into all-time high territory. There was no clean short to map and no good long trade location under 80 points from the high, so the plan was no trade.

What does Stand Down mean in trading?

A: Stand Down is a command to not trade. When trade location and the calendar both tell you the edge is gone, the disciplined move is to keep your platform closed. Protecting capital and mindset on a bad day is a real trading decision.

How do you manage a runner in ES futures?

A: Take your planned profit on most of your contracts to deleverage, then hold a single runner. Place its stop behind a structural level, such as the apex of Battle Plan 3. If price keeps trending, that one runner can turn a 30 point win into 70 or even 140 points with no extra work.

What is a slingshot trade at Battle Plan 5?

A: It is when price digs under the expected range at a deep Battle Plan level, then reverses hard back up and out. On Wednesday, price dropped into the edge of the drop zone at Battle Plan 5, fair value gapped, and slingshotted higher for an easy 30 pointer.

What is the drop zone and why is it a riskier entry?

A: The drop zone is the lower edge of a Battle Plan level where price digs in before reversing. Entries here are riskier because your stop has to sit under the apex of the level. The reward is you catch the trade closer to the turn if the bulls are real.

What is the Three-Contract System and deleveraging?

A: It is Micros Trader's position sizing framework. You bank profit on your initial contracts to reduce risk, which is deleveraging, then let a remaining runner work. It locks in a winner while still giving you upside on a trend.

What is the Bull Bear Line?

A: The Bull Bear Line is the key dividing level between bullish and bearish bias. Battle Plan 1 on Thursday was a reclaim long right off it. When price reclaims and holds above the line, it supports staying with the bulls.

How long should a pre-market prep routine take?

A: About 30 minutes. Roughly 5 minutes on the Battle Plan, 7 to 10 minutes on the AM Briefing, and up to 10 minutes updating your own levels. Never trade without a thorough review so your levels are truly yours.

What is contract rollover and when does it happen?

A: Rollover is the quarterly transition to a new futures contract month. Rollover week begins the Tuesday after the holiday, and the following Monday the room trades the new contract. Volume shifts to the new front month during that week.
