Revenge Trading: How to Stop the Emotional Spiral After a Loss
The loss stings. The trades you take to win it back blow the account.
From the free MicrosTrader Trading Library… 140 lessons mined from 1,042 live ES and MES futures sessions taught since 2018.
Revenge trading is what you do when a loss stings and you try to win it back right now, on the next trade, whether the setup deserves it or not. You chase. You add to losers. You whisper "just one more contract." In ES E-mini futures, that emotional spiral wrecks more accounts than any bad chart read ever will. The market takes a few points. Your reaction can take the whole account.
This page gathers everything George teaches about the revenge spiral across hundreds of hours of live ES and MES micro futures trading… how it starts, why adding to losers feels so logical in the moment, and the hard rules that halt it before it blows the account. Stay Green Over Greed and you never spiral in the first place.
“"They hit their stop, then spiral into revenge trading or emotional shutdown because they can't distinguish between a normal fall and total destruction."”

From George’s published record: MES Micros Trade Plan #318 | 5 Great Setups — a 70+-point move, mapped in advance.
The Loss Is Fine. The Reaction Is the Killer.
Read your account statement honestly. The single losing trade almost never ends you. A tight stop costs you a handful of points and moves on. The damage starts the second your mindset flips from trading to fixing. George names it plainly. Once you're down, you're no longer trading the market… you're digging.
That different mindset is the enemy. Trading from flat, you wait for your level. Trading out of a hole, you force. And what you do about the drawdown decides everything. If you keep your risk tight and honor the system, the red day passes. The problem shows up when you decide to get reckless.
“"All of a sudden you're down 10 points, well you change your mindset on the day because now you're working yourself out of a hole. Your mindset of when you're trading out of a hole versus trading from flat or up on the day is completely different."”
