Vomit Days & Liquidation Breaks: How Violent Selloffs Actually Unfold

How violent selloffs actually unfold… one to three hours, four to seven Strong Levels, and no respect for any of them.

From the free MicrosTrader Trading Library… 140 lessons mined from 1,042 live ES and MES futures sessions taught since 2018.

A vomit day is a violent, one-directional selloff. Price cascades straight down, tearing through Strong Levels that would normally hold. In ES E-mini futures it runs one to three hours, drops through four to seven Strong Levels, and ignores every one of them on the way down. Then short covering kicks in and the move exhausts. That's the whole shape of it.

This page gathers everything George teaches about vomit days and the liquidation break across hundreds of hours of live ES and MES micro futures trading… what triggers them, how far they travel, why your levels stop working, and the one thing to do when price starts to fall. Read it and you'll stop counter-trading the elevator down.

“"We know that typical vomit… 5 to 7 ladders, 90 minutes to 3 hours."”

What a Vomit Day Actually Is

George calls a rapid one-directional cascade a vomit move. Price gets sick and lets it all go at once. It cuts both ways… the same violent action to the upside is a vomit going the other way, which is short covering. Both are the market puking in a single direction with no pause.

The anatomy is consistent. A typical vomit day cascades in about five to seven ladders and lasts 90 minutes to three hours. You start seeing monster candles to the south, and you catch the move with entries using very small stops. The move is fast, so your risk has to be tight.

“"This is the opposite of a vomit move. This is vomit going the other way."”
