MES MICROS TRADE PLAN

Why Holding the Runner Turned a Nice Trade Into a 50 Point Day

Posted: Tuesday September 29, 2026

☀️ AM BRIEFING

This is a short briefing because we go live 15 minutes before the open, and today's real story lives in yesterday's tape. The first 30 minutes went nowhere… that dead chop was energy storing up, and George called it in real time before the explosive move arrived. Four mapped opportunities set up, including a long between 29 and 30 at the bottom of the range that ran into a 50 point day for anyone who held the lotto runner. This ES futures morning briefing is about one thing above all… learning to hold that runner. Jolts and consumer confidence hit 30 minutes after the open, and we trade it together live every Tuesday.

THE DEAD TAPE THAT WAS BUILDING ENERGY

Thirty minutes into yesterday's session, price went nowhere. Nothing, nothing, nothing. But George kept saying the same thing on the tape… it FEELS like there is explosive energy stored up in here, just wanting to explode. Then the price action got more violent.

That is the read most traders miss. A tape that refuses to move is often coiling, not dying. Price came up, bounced its head, came down, built that energy… and then never looked back on the move up.

Trader Lesson 1

A tape that goes nowhere is often storing energy, not losing it. Sit in the chop, mark your levels, and be ready for the explosive move instead of forcing trades into the dead zone.

THE LONG BETWEEN 29 AND 30… AND THE 50 POINTS

We mapped several trades the night before. If price got back above, it would probably come right back down into the strong level… and it did. When we finally got a beautiful move down, George extended the Zoom session and called a potential long between 29 and 30, with strong encouragement several times to HOLD that lotto runner.

  • First ladder, 30 to 29: A little riskier for the potential, but at a high probability location like the bottom of the range, George takes that first ladder every single time.
  • The heat: If you took the entry you wore about a point and a half of heat as price danced between strong levels. Then it skyrocketed.
  • The payoff: If you held, price took out the IB high and the London high for a clean 50 points.

There were other looks too. Look number two gave an entry earlier for 10 points and follow through. The overnight drop into the drop zone gave a nice outlined entry that did not reach target… and that happens. Beautiful trade, missed target, move on.

Trader Lesson 2

At a high probability location like the bottom of the range, take the first ladder. Do not let anyone talk you into a trade or out of one… map it, size it, and take it on your own terms.

HOLD THE RUNNER… IT IS A LEARNED SKILL

Did not hold your lotto runner? You are not alone, and you will learn how in the group. It takes a little time. It is not as easy as just holding… there are emotional things and mental things you have to get over first.

This is where the 3-Contract System earns its keep. You bank the front contracts, then let the runner ride into the extension. If you had added into that explosion the way the move allowed, you were looking at a serious bag… roughly 50 points on the runner alone. On ES that 50 points is $2,500, on MES it is $250 per contract.

The 50 point day was pretty much insured if you HELD your lotto runner. The entry was the easy part. The holding is the skill.

Trader Lesson 3

The 50 point day comes from holding the runner, not from the entry. Use the 3-Contract System to bank the front and let the back ride… then train the emotional discipline to actually leave it on.

THE LEVELS ON THE CHART TODAY

We are sitting inside yesterday's previous range. There is a definitive trend line up top that George wants marked on your chart, and a horizontal line at last week's low. The read is clean and conditional.

  • If we reclaim the trend line and get above last week's low: that opens the next targeted area to the upside.
  • If it fails: we look lower, back down into range.
  • If we bounce here: that line becomes a definitive trend line worth holding on your chart for a reclaim trade.

Last night's dip was the location for a Battle Plan 2 long. Most members are American, but international members had the opportunity to take that long overnight. We will train the rest of it together live before the open.

NEW REWIND FEATURE AND THE CHARTBUDDY DRILL DOWN

Two tool notes for members using the Chrome extensions. First, a new rewind feature is in testing today and should ship tomorrow. On your chart you hit the left arrow to delete candles and the right arrow to bring them back. When you are down in the lower time frames, that lets you strip the clutter, study the structure, then paint the candles back in.

Second, a reminder on ChartBuddy. Click a candle on the 30-minute chart and it shows you the 10-minute candles inside it, then the 3-minute, then the 1-minute. Now you can walk left and right through those with the arrow keys. It is one of the quiet benefits of membership.

"The 50 point day was pretty much insured if you held your lotto runner."

❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

COMMON QUESTIONS FOR ES FUTURES TRADERS

What is a lotto runner in ES futures trading?

A: A lotto runner is a speculative, low-probability contract you leave on after banking your front contracts, aiming for an extended move. Yesterday, holding the runner off the 29 to 30 long is what turned a solid trade into a 50 point day when price took out the IB high and the London high.

How does the 3-Contract System help you hold a runner?

A: The 3-Contract System is Micros Trader's core position sizing framework. You scale out of your front contracts to lock in profit and reduce pressure, which frees you emotionally to leave the final runner on for the big extension instead of cutting it early.

Why take the first ladder at the bottom of a range?

A: The first ladder is a slightly riskier entry, but at a high probability location like the bottom of a range it offers strong reward for the risk. George takes that first ladder every time at those spots… though he is clear you should trade your own plan, not his.

What does it mean when the tape goes nowhere early in the session?

A: A flat, choppy open often means energy is coiling rather than the day being dead. Yesterday the first 30 minutes went nowhere and then produced an explosive directional move. The read is to stay patient and keep your levels marked instead of forcing trades into the chop.

What are Strong Levels and how do you use them?

A: Strong Levels are high-conviction price levels mapped in advance. Price often dances between them and reacts hard at each one. Yesterday's move rode from one strong level to the next, and knowing where they sat is what let traders plan the second entry and hold through the heat.

What is a Battle Plan 2 entry?

A: The Battle Plan is Micros Trader's nightly tiered ES trade plan, with levels labeled BP1, BP2 and up. A Battle Plan 2 entry is the second tier level. Last night's dip hit that BP2 location and offered a long, which international members trading the overnight session could take.

What is the ChartBuddy candle drill down?

A: ChartBuddy is a Micros Trader TradingView tool. Click a 30-minute candle and it reveals the 10-minute candles inside it, then the 3-minute, then the 1-minute, so you can see exactly how a higher time frame bar was built. Members can now step through those candles with the arrow keys.

How many points was the ES move worth in dollars?

A: The runner captured roughly 50 points. On the full-size ES that is about $2,500 per contract, and on the MES micro futures it is about $250 per contract. That gap is why position sizing and holding the runner matter so much to your bottom line.

What is the plan for the ES chart today?

A: We are inside yesterday's range with a trend line and last week's low as the key levels. Reclaiming above them opens the next upside target… failing there points lower. Jolts and consumer confidence land 30 minutes after the open, so expect a reaction around that data.
