ES & MES FUTURES TRADE PLAN #408
TODAY'S REVIEW: ES FUTURES
Battle Plan Review
As I stated last night, "There are no high-probability trades at this trade location."
From last night's close, we needed nearly a 100-point pullback to drop into Battle Plan 1️⃣.
Instead, we got a beautiful 60-point pullback, taking out four Strong Levels in the process.
SIDE NOTE: One of my favorite setups has the following conditions. Bulls control... this is KEY... and ES gives our group a 60-point pullback, taking out 3 to 5 Strong Levels in the process.
We got that scenario almost exactly.
In our ES Live Trading Room, I discussed how the loss and reclaim of the following Strong Level could represent a long. See the chart below.
I added... for a trader who was already up nicely for the week, this could represent a good positional long. "I will not be taking this trade myself as I have my eyes on Battle Plan 1️⃣ below."
Once Zoom ended, the first thing I posted in Discord was this:
Just because I'm short doesn't mean I can't map out longs for my other traders.
I can be short and they can be long... and we can both make money.
You got exactly the scenario I outlined in the Discord post... one more dip down, followed by a strong ladder-back reversal move offering two Core Strategy entries long.
Traders who took the positional long had much success.
Those who waited for Core Strategy laddering had a nice 20-pointer.
I did not take this long because I was already short.
On that up move, my stop was hit... capturing a well-earned 50-pointer on my 7888 short... as discussed in yesterday's Battle Plan and managed live this morning.
Although we discussed the possibility of the reclaim long in our Live Trading Room, my eyeballs were affixed below... dreaming of Battle Plan 1️⃣.
The initial efforts to ladder back were dismal.
ES lacked confidence.
We needed lower prices.
I was hoping for much lower.
In Discord I added, "We're at the 60-point mark right now. I would like it to be 100, but you've got to trade the price action as it develops."
Then ES dipped its toe down one more time… a new low… and beautiful laddering developed right above the Strong Level.
Although this long paid out... the entry was difficult, which confirmed last night's statement posted above.
After a 220-point rip-roaring move to the north, what do you expect?
Low-probability trading conditions.
I know what to expect.
Moderate your expectations.
That said... are we still looking for the right trade in the right trade location?
You bet!
If we can keep looking for the right trades at the right trade locations, the odds of our success greatly improve.

Battle Plan: 170+
Nothing today.
Not every day is a trading day.
All longs from below trailed out today… Tuesday's Battle Plan 2️⃣, plus last Thursday's Battle Plan 3️⃣ and Battle Plan 2️⃣. All wonderful trades, clearly exhibiting the power of holding a Lotto Runner. Holding Lotto Runners is a cornerstone of our trading system.
Zoom: 0+
Another goose egg for Zoom.
The trade we discussed happened after we ended Zoom.
The 50-point short I took yesterday also developed after Zoom.
Maybe tomorrow we crush it inside the live trading room.
I will be bringing my A-game.
But of course, the chart has to deliver an A+ setup.
If it does, we take it.
If it doesn't, we sit tight.
We never ever force a trade.

Not much more than that.

COMMON QUESTIONS FOR ES FUTURES TRADERS
What does "bulls control" mean in this Battle Plan?
A: Bulls control means the buyers are running the show and the bigger trend is up. Trading is easier when bulls control... pullbacks tend to get bought. That is why longs from below are the primary trades and any short is a counter-trend trade. Bulls control. Shorts are counter. Small, if at all. And remember... bulls control until proven otherwise.
What is a Strong Level?
A: A Strong Level is a key price level on the ES chart where price has reacted hard before and is likely to react again. In this Battle Plan, a 60-point pullback took out four Strong Levels... and the loss and reclaim of a Strong Level set up the long. That is the pattern to watch. Price loses the level, then takes it back, then ladders higher. The reclaim is your entry signal.
What is the Core Strategy and what does laddering back mean?
A: The Core Strategy is the Micros Trader method for entering trades with confirmation instead of guessing the bottom. Laddering back means price stops making new lows and starts stepping higher, rung by rung... higher lows and higher highs. Today the first attempts to ladder were dismal. Then ES dipped one more time, printed a new low, and beautiful laddering developed right above the Strong Level. That laddering offered two Core Strategy entries long and a 20-point winner.
Why are there no high-probability trades at the current trade location?
A: After a 220-point rip to the north, price is sitting far away from the best trade locations. The higher-probability trades wait further down the trail... Battle Plan 1 is 88 points away. YM, ES, and NQ all closed under yesterday's low and did not fill the RTH gap, which says we may need a better low first. So we wait. Today's long paid, but the entry was difficult. Moderate your expectations and keep looking for the right trade at the right trade location.
What does "add to the winner" mean in the Tip of the Day?
A: Adding to the winner means putting on more contracts only after a trade is already working and your risk is covered. Amateurs add to losers, hoping to get back to even. Professionals hunt the risk-free add to a winner... the trade has moved in their favor, the stop is locked at or above entry, and the add costs nothing if it fails. One well-managed add can out-earn every other contract you trade all week.
