MES MICROS TRADE PLAN

When a Level Gets Tired, Stand Down

Posted: Tuesday October 20, 2026

☀️ AM BRIEFING

This ES futures morning briefing is a lesson in restraint. Overnight price came back to the Bull Bear Line near 28 for the loss and reclaim trade, a setup that has paid us before… but this was the first real challenge of the level and the bulls are not defending it well. George passed, and that pass is the whole point. The recap showed a clean 30.9 point run off Battle Plan 3, the three-contract system doing its work on stop management, and a reminder to keep size light into Netflix, Tesla and Meta earnings. With FOMC one week out, this is a tape that rewards patience and punishes the trader who needs action.

THE WEEK AHEAD: LIGHT NEWS, HEAVY EARNINGS, FOMC NEXT WEEK

Tuesday brings ADP and housing data, and that is about it. This is a light news week on the economic calendar. The weight sits elsewhere… earnings and the Fed.

  • Next week: FOMC. The calendar quiets down right before it gets loud, so map lean and protect your capital into the event.
  • Earnings on tap: Netflix reports today. Tesla and Meta report tomorrow. Both Tesla and Meta can really move the tape.
Do not hold a lot of size over the close into these reports. Meta and Tesla can move hard after hours, and a position you cannot manage overnight is a position working against you.

Trader Lesson 1

Keep size light into big earnings. If a name like Tesla or Meta can move hard after the close, do not carry a position overnight that you have no way to manage while you sleep.

THREE WAYS WE EARN POINTS

Every session, points come from one of three sources. Know which one you are playing before the open, and you stop reacting to the tape.

  • Battle Plan: The pre-planned, well-thought-out trade plan. Fewer, higher quality trades, mapped onto your TradingView chart every afternoon. You do not even have to draw the levels anymore… they are placed for you.
  • Zoom / Live Room: We hunt Battle Plans and Core Strategy live, plus the extra trades that thousands of sessions of screen time reveal. The value here is not always the points earned. Sometimes it is the points saved… in a calm, squirrelly tape the call to not short something protects your account.
  • Core Strategy: Our advanced scalping system for RTH. You learn three basic levels where price bounces, then you trade the bounces. Earn your four badges, submit your chart, and George grades it personally so your levels match the levels we trade.

Trader Lesson 2

The points you save are as real as the points you earn. A calm, directionless tape rewards the trader who sits on his hands… the call to not take a trade is a trade decision.

THE RECAP: BATTLE PLAN 3 RUNS 30.9 POINTS

The setups delivered. Battle Plan 4 was nearly impossible to enter, but it dropped right into the drop zone at the Strong Level and catapulted exactly as the plan called for. Sunday night's Battle Plan flagged interest in a gap-down and a ladder back… and that is precisely what the market gave.

Battle Plan 3 offered the cleaner path. The first long missed by a teeny. No chase. George stood aside, price came right back down into the second ideal trade location, took a tiny bit of heat, then ran to the mapped target and beyond for a clean 30.9 points.

On Zoom yesterday the lotto runner made it to target and extended nicely for another move near 30 points. Last night's Battle Plan walked through stop management step by step… if you follow the three-contract system rather than holding a single lotto runner for the whole move, you stair-step your stop up as price works.

Trader Lesson 3

Do not chase. When an entry misses you by a teeny, let it go. Price came back to the second ideal trade location and paid… the trader who chased the first miss never got that second chance.

Trader Lesson 4

Stair-step your stop with the three-contract system. You lock in the move as price runs instead of risking the whole gain on one lotto runner holding out for the big target.

THE BULL BEAR LINE AT 28: TRADABLE, THEN TIRED

Overnight gave another look at Battle Plan 3. The note in the plan was clear… the loss and reclaim of the Bull Bear Line is tradable, and that played out at the 28 level. But George flagged it with less confidence, because this was the first time the Bull Bear Line got challenged last night.

So he passed. And that is the wise choice. Once a level becomes tired, it becomes tired. This is exactly where the bulls need to respond, and they are not doing a very good job anymore… a read George shared in the Discord group yesterday.

Trader Lesson 5

When a level gets tired, Stand Down. The loss and reclaim of the Bull Bear Line is a real trade, but a level the bulls keep failing to defend is a level you take with less size or not at all.

FRIDAY'S INSIDE DAY: EXPLORING THE LOWER EDGE

Friday printed a big inside day, and price is sitting smack in the middle of it. The question is which edge we explore first… and it is certainly looking like the lower edge.

The tell is the Bull Bear Line. The bulls can not seem to defend it. That line was defended very, very well before and looks like a well-drawn level, so it matters. Lose it, and the target shifts down to the RTH low.

"Once a level becomes tired, it does become tired. This is where the bulls need to respond… and man, they're not doing a very good job anymore."

❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

COMMON QUESTIONS FOR ES FUTURES TRADERS

What is the Bull Bear Line in ES futures?

A: The Bull Bear Line is the key level that divides bullish control from bearish control on the ES futures chart. When price holds above it, bulls are in charge. When bulls repeatedly fail to defend it, as they did overnight near the 28 level, it signals the market may be ready to explore lower. It is one of the core key levels we map in every AM Briefing.

What is the loss and reclaim trade?

A: A loss and reclaim is when price drops below a key level like the Bull Bear Line, then pushes back up and reclaims it. That reclaim is tradable because it traps the sellers who shorted the break. It works best when the level is fresh… the more times a level gets challenged, the more tired and less reliable the setup becomes.

What does it mean when a level gets tired?

A: A level gets tired when price tests it over and over and the defenders stop responding with conviction. The first challenge of a level carries the most weight. By the time it has been hit several times, the edge fades, and the disciplined move is to take it with less size or pass entirely and Stand Down.

What is the three-contract system?

A: The three-contract system is Micros Trader's core position sizing framework. Instead of holding one lotto runner for the whole move, you split the position so you can scale out at targets and stair-step your stop up as price works in your favor. It locks in points along the way and takes the all-or-nothing pressure off a single contract.

How do you manage a runner in ES futures?

A: You stair-step the stop. As price advances toward the mapped target, you raise your stop behind it in steps so a reversal takes you out in profit rather than giving the whole move back. Last night's Battle Plan showed this methodology level by level… protect the gain, then let the runner reach for target and beyond.

Why pass on a trade that the plan called tradable?

A: Because confidence is part of the setup. The plan can flag a level as tradable while the real-time read lowers your confidence, as it did on the first challenge of a tired Bull Bear Line. Passing protects your capital and your mindset. The points you save by skipping a low-conviction trade are as real as the points you earn.

What is an inside day and how do you trade it?

A: An inside day is a session whose entire range sits within the prior day's range, like Friday's big inside day. Price starts in the middle and eventually explores one edge. Right now ES is leaning toward the lower edge, which puts the RTH low in play as the downside target if the Bull Bear Line gives way.

Should I hold ES or MES positions overnight into earnings?

A: Keep size light. With Netflix reporting today and Tesla and Meta tomorrow, after-hours moves can be large and you can not actively manage a position while the market reacts. Trimming or flattening before the close keeps you in control rather than hostage to a gap.

Why watch the live trading room if the Battle Plan is already mapped?

A: The Battle Plan hands you the mapped levels, and the live ES trading room shows you how to read them in real time… when to take a bounce, when the Core Strategy scalp lines up, and when to Stand Down. The value is often in the points saved as much as the points earned.
