ES MES Futures Trading: Key Levels, Tips, Technical Analysis. Thursday "AM Briefing"

Preparing ES Emini & MES Micros Traders
For Our Emini and Micros Futures Trading Room

The ES market remains in a period of consolidation, with bearish momentum holding firm unless a significant breakout occurs. Traders are eyeing the Bull-Bear Line for signs of a potential shift, but risk remains high for long positions. Nvidia's price action has played a crucial role in recent moves, but overall, the market awaits a clearer directional push. With the upcoming PCE report looming, traders anticipate increased volatility, making Friday a pivotal trading session. RESOURCES:

Welcome ES MES Futures Traders

AM Briefing Video

Good morning, everybody! Happy Thursday, February 27th. Welcome to the AM briefing video presented by MicrosTrader.com, where together, we trade better.

Scripture of the Week

1 John 3:16

"This is how we have come to know love: He laid down His life for us. We should also lay down our lives for our brothers."

Tip of The Day

Can you handle telling the chart, "No, thank you"?

  • "No, thank you, I'm just not interested."
  • "Nope, I don't like that setup."
  • "Nope, I don’t like that setup because of that trade location."

Waiting for the right setup is like waiting for the right spouse. You’ll see other opportunities, but you must say, "No, thank you." Be patient and wait for the right one. That’s what we do in trading—we wait for the right setup.

News Drivers

  • Preliminary GDP and Unemployment Claims (one hour before market open).
  • Usually, these are not significant market movers, so I expect a green trading day in my humble opinion.
  • Tomorrow is Friday PCE—the real market mover! It has an orange caution marker, and since it’s Friday, we trade by Friday rules.
  • We will be LIVE on YouTube for that candle, so keep an eye out for the link in the description. I’ll try to schedule it soon.

Seasonality Chart Revisit

Does it seem like the second half of February is aligning with seasonal trends?

  • We discussed this earlier in the week—seasonality isn’t something we analyze daily, but when we approach a significant turning point, it’s worth revisiting.
  • It’s almost like the Farmer’s Almanac for trading.

Yesterday’s Market Review

No trade day for me.

  • The Bull-Bear Line I gave yesterday was the 2025 opening price.
  • My ideal scenario was a dip to 5997.5, but that didn’t happen.
  • I was hoping the Nvidia candle would trigger that level, but it didn’t either.
  • The market opened, didn’t pull back enough, and then shot up.
  • It hung around the Bull-Bear Line, but ultimately, the bears won.

ES Chart – Where Are We Now?

We're currently stuck in multi-session chop.

  • Last night on YouTube Live, I was hoping we’d break lower, re-enter Tuesday’s range, and trigger a short-covering rally.
  • That didn’t happen.
  • Nvidia had a major candle, moving ES 50% of its daily range—amazing to see a single stock have that much influence.
  • Too much time on the charts yesterday, so I took the evening off.

Trading Mindset: Are You the Best Version of Yourself?

Before trading, ask yourself:

  • "Am I the best version of me right now?"

Trading demands your best self—anything less is unacceptable. If you’re not at your best, step back.

Overnight Action & Market Bias

  • Bears remain in control.
  • The Bull-Bear Line I’ve given all week remains valid.
  • All longs are risky unless we enter the green zone I’ve marked.

Key Trading Indicators & Strong Levels

  • Sunday's "Watch Out Below" indicator played out perfectly.
  • We’ve bounced between strong levels, confirming their validity.
  • If we clear the Bull-Bear Line decisively, that could trigger a significant move.
  • ES is naturally a bullish instrument—if the Bears fail to make new lows, expect a short squeeze.

Final Thoughts

  • If there’s a visceral reaction to a major candle (news, a tweet, etc.), that’s a sign of a significant move.
  • If we retest the Bull-Bear Line after a strong breakout, that’s a better long setup.
  • Watch for the PCE candle tomorrow!
  • We’ll be live 15 minutes before the event—check the link in the description.

If you enjoy what we do, like, subscribe, and leave a comment! Wishing you all good luck trading today.

See my traders live 30 minutes before the market opens for our mental training session.

MORE INFORMATION:

SUMMARY:

  • Market Context: The ES market remains in multi-session chop, with Bears maintaining control unless a significant breakout occurs above the Bull-Bear Line.
  • Yesterday’s Review: A no-trade day as price failed to pull back to my desired levels. Nvidia’s influence was strong, but the market remained indecisive.
  • Trading Plan: Waiting for session liquidity grabs before taking any longs. Bears still control the market, and all longs remain risky in this setup.
  • Key Indicators: Strong levels identified earlier in the week continue to hold. If the market breaks above the Bull-Bear Line decisively, it could trigger a short squeeze.
  • Upcoming Event: Tomorrow’s PCE report is a significant market mover. We will be live on YouTube 15 minutes before the event—watch for the link in the description.
