ES MES Futures Trading: Key Levels, Tips, Technical Analysis. Tuesday "AM Briefing"

Preparing ES Emini & MES Micros Traders
For Our Emini and Micros Futures Trading Room

Futures traders are bracing for heightened volatility as contract rollover and the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting approach. Monday’s session saw strong bullish momentum, with traders capitalizing on breakout opportunities, securing up to 50 points in gains. Market structure is shifting, as a key 30-minute trendline has broken, prompting traders to reassess support and resistance levels. With liquidity tests around the IB low, traders remain cautious, anticipating potential reversals or continuation plays in the days ahead. RESOURCES:

Welcome ES MES Futures Traders

Welcome to the AM Briefing video presented by MicrosTrader.com, where together we trade better.

Good morning, everybody! Happy Tuesday, March 18th—the day before FOMC and contract rollover, and the day after a big trading session. Today is going to be a doozy, but let’s start off with some scripture:

Philippians 2:3

"Do nothing out of rivalry or conceit, but in humility consider others as more important than yourselves."

Tip of The Day

Emotions are signals, markers, and indicators—listen to them.

  • Are they telling you that you oversized?
  • Did you impulsively take a trade?
  • What are your emotions signaling?

Your emotions are built into your trading operating system. Pay attention to them.

Today's News & Market Outlook

There’s nothing new in terms of news drivers, but that itself is news!

  • Big day ahead: Contract rollover.
  • Day after a significant move.
  • Day before FOMC.

It’s a Level 10 trading week, in my opinion. Tread carefully.

Yesterday’s Review

Yesterday was all about long trades. I told my group in the morning that I was only focusing on long setups.

  • Game Plan: If we broke the overnight high with a vengeance, I was going long with a market order.
  • Execution: After an initial pullback, I took my long trade and captured 10 points. Some traders in our group were more patient and secured 20 points.
  • Second Long Trade: When price pulled back again and held, I went long again, treating it like a lotto trade.
  • Trader Performance: Many in our group outperformed me, with some securing 50 points on their trades.
  • Core Strategy: 8 winners, 0 losers, 0 break-evens.

Overall, the strategy worked flawlessly, and we had a phenomenal day.

Trade of The Day

  • The best trade of the day was on the three-minute chart.
  • Justin executed a long trade, capturing 50 points with two ES contracts.
  • Massive win for our group, locking in solid profits early in the session.

Overnight Session Analysis

Switching to a 10-minute chart, I watched price action unfold in a larger time frame:

  • Two planned short trades—but my entry was slightly higher, so I missed them.
  • Key Levels: Price tested the strong level multiple times, confirming defensive action by buyers.
  • Current Focus: Watching the IB low to see if we grab liquidity and reverse.

📌 Trading Plan Moving Forward:

  • If price hits the IB low, I will watch closely to see if we get a strong reaction.
  • If price breaks down, I’ll wait for a short entry targeting the bottom of the range.
  • If price reclaims the range, I will consider long setups instead.

🚨 Key Warning: If price grabs liquidity at the IB low and bounces aggressively, short positions may get ripped through.

Trendline Adjustments & Market Structure

  • The main 30-minute trendline has broken, signaling a shift in structure.
  • A new trendline is forming, and price is consolidating sideways.
  • The London session made a higher high than the Asia session, signaling potential continuation.
  • Key Levels to Watch:
    • If price reclaims the range, we may target the green zone.
    • If price breaks down, the downward move may not be over.

Final Thoughts

  • Market is in consolidation mode after a big drop.
  • Price has broken above its range—will it hold or fade back in?
  • Red zone = potential shorts, green zone = potential long targets.
