MES MICROS TRADE PLAN
Great Trading Is Boring… And That Is The Edge
Posted: Wednesday October 14, 2026
CPI landed this morning and the market did what news events always do… it created volatility. Price fell straight into Battle Plan 1 at the strong level, with Battle Plan 3 waiting below against the Bull Bear Line. This ES futures morning briefing is about patience on a level 10 risk day. George mapped the drop zone the night before, waited for price to come to him, and took a small long right where he had planned it. The whole session comes back to one idea… fewer, higher quality trades, and the discipline to wait for them.
THE SYSTEM: FEWER, HIGHER QUALITY TRADES
What is our system? Pre-planned, well thought out trades. We map them in the Battle Plan the night before and we hit them live on Zoom. When a setup is not high quality, George tells you… this one is for the aggressive, or this level is tired. The goal never changes.
You trade better when you focus on fewer, higher quality trades. You do not need to be in every single wiggle on the chart. Be risk-first. Entries are laser tight, and laser tight entries are easier when price is in the fresh section of the chart. It just is.
- Fresh levels: Price in a new area of the chart gives you clean, tight entries with defined risk.
- Tired levels: A level that has been beaten to death is low probability. The purpose of the Battle Plan is high probability, so eventually you let that level go and wait for something new.
Trader Lesson 1
Fewer, higher quality trades beat chasing every wiggle. You do not need to be in every move… you need to be in the right ones.
Trader Lesson 2
A level beaten to death is low probability. When it is tired, you are done with it. Wait for fresh structure where tight entries live.
CPI DAY: EVERY ENTRY IS LEVEL 10 RISK
Today was CPI, and on a CPI day the market uses the news to create volatility. Every entry is level 10 difficulty, every entry is level 10 risk. That does not mean you stay out… it means you respect the danger and size accordingly.
Price fell into Battle Plan 1 at the strong level, right where it was mapped. George was watching Battle Plan 1, 2, and 3. His favorite was Battle Plan 3, because it sits against the Bull Bear Line and the high timeframe trend line… the highest conviction spot of the three. The all-time high sat right above our heads as a magnet in the other direction.
- Drop zone: The area between the Battle Plan levels where you look for price to drop in and ladder back. You can take a trade anywhere in that range or against the strong level itself, depending on your appetite for risk.
- Reclaim preference: The ideal entry is a push down into the strong level and a reclaim. Many times price will bounce off the strong level and go no further.
- Size down: If you trade here, be small. At any point a big strong candle can drop you to the next level.
Trader Lesson 3
On a CPI day, treat every entry as level 10 risk. Trade small, wait for your mapped level, and let the danger decide your size.
THE THREE CONTRACT SYSTEM AND THE LOTTO RUNNER
The 3-Contract System is the way to go. You fuel the trade, you hold a lotto runner, and you play perfect chess all day while the runner captures the big move. The mature trader adds to winning trades… the new trader does the opposite.
Most people start out varying their leverage on every trade, never looking to add to winners, asking only how fast can I get out of this. As you mature, you move the other way. It is the only way. Today George took one micro long inside his drop zone, small, with the stop at a new low. Skyrocket up and it is still an awesome trade… you do not need much leverage when the entry is right.
Trader Lesson 4
Add to your winners, not your losers. Hold the lotto runner to capture the big move. Mature traders scale into strength.
GREAT TRADING IS BORING
Great trading is boring. Great trading is a lot of waiting. You wait for price to enter the area where you are looking to get long or short. Then you are holding the runner and waiting for your stop to be taken out or your target to hit. It is a lot of waiting.
Think of airline pilots… hours of boredom punctuated by a few moments of sheer terror. That is the job. Exhibiting perfect patience is how you become the trader you were meant to be. And the engine underneath it all is journaling. George rebuilt the journaling prompts in last night's Battle Plan for exactly this.
- Define your trade plan.
- Analyze your behavioral patterns.
- Scrutinize your trade performance.
- Repeat the same process every single day.
It can get boring. Welcome to great trading. The repetition is the point.
Trader Lesson 5
Journal every day. Define, analyze, scrutinize, repeat. The boring process is where the edge is built.
A NEW CHART BUDDY TIMEFRAME FEATURE
George showed a new feature programmed into his TradingView tool. On TradingView, zooming in normally stops at a set number of candles. With this feature, as you scroll in on a 3-minute chart it automatically switches to the 10-minute, then the 30-minute, and works its way back down as you zoom out. One smooth motion across timeframes while you keep your eyes on the tape. Pretty snazzy. He will walk through it live in the Zoom room today.
"Great trading is boring. Great trading is a lot of waiting."
COMMON QUESTIONS FOR ES FUTURES TRADERS
What is the Three Contract System in ES futures trading?
A: The 3-Contract System is Micros Trader's core position sizing framework for ES and MES futures. You fuel the trade, hold a lotto runner to capture the big extended move, and manage the rest like a chess board through the session. It keeps your risk consistent while still giving you a shot at the outsized winner.
Why avoid trading a level that has been beaten to death?
A: A level that price has tested over and over becomes low probability. Tight entries are easiest when price is in a fresh section of the chart, where structure is clean. The Battle Plan exists to deliver high probability setups, so once a level is tired you let it go and wait for something new.
How should you trade ES futures on a CPI day?
A: Treat every entry as level 10 risk. CPI drives volatility, so you wait for price to reach a mapped Battle Plan level, you size small, and you prefer a push into the strong level with a reclaim. You do not chase price through the news… you let it come to your location.
What is the drop zone in the Battle Plan?
A: The drop zone is the area between two Battle Plan levels where you look for price to drop in and ladder back into a trade. You can take an entry anywhere in that range or against the strong level itself, with your size set by how aggressive you choose to be that day.
What does laddering back mean in futures trading?
A: Laddering back is scaling into a position in steps as price moves through your zone, rather than committing all size at one price. It lets you build a position across the drop zone and improve your average entry while keeping risk controlled.
What is the Bull Bear Line in the Battle Plan?
A: The Bull Bear Line is the key dividing level between bullish and bearish bias. A Battle Plan level that sits against the Bull Bear Line and the high timeframe trend line is higher conviction, which is why Battle Plan 3 was George's preferred spot today.
Why does Micros Trader say great trading is boring?
A: Because the work is mostly waiting. You wait for price to reach your area, you hold the runner, and you wait for the stop or the target. Like a pilot, it is hours of boredom with a few moments of action. Perfect patience is the skill that separates mature traders from the rest.
How do I try the Battle Plan?
A: The first 30 days is $7. That gets you the strong levels and the Battle Plan indicator for the full month, so you can test exactly what the room trades, including tonight's mapped ES setups for tomorrow.
